Nearly a dozen decapitated goats have been found in a river that is a source for Atlanta’s drinking water, according to the environmental advocacy organization, Chattahoochee Riverkeeper.
Riverkeeper Jason Ulseth said he found the dead goats Wednesday while patrolling the area in an effort to stop sources of pollution.
Ulseth said he saw one dead goat near a bridge while headed into Cobb County, and realized it was headless. He said he counted at least 10 goat bodies along the river.
The organization says it lacks the capability to remove the goats and urged people to not dump in the Chattahoochee River.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the Chattahoochee supplies 70 percent of metro Atlanta’s drinking water.
