Jacksonville Water Department Warns of Scam

The City of Jackson Water Department is warning customers about a scam that could be going around the area. On Friday a water customer was approached by an unknown male pretending to be a City of Jackson Water Department employee. The man advised the customer there was a water situation in the area, then asked the customer for his driver’s license number and credit card. The man then offered the customer a $100 bill in exchange for a water sample and $50. The customer contacted the water department after he realized this was a scam attempt. The City of Jackson Water Department wants customers to know employees will never request any form of payment or identification at homes or businesses. All customer information or identification is only handled at city offices. The Jackson Police Department is investigating the incident.
