Cliffside residents asked to conserve water after water line break

Logan City residents in the Cliffside area are being asked to conserve as much water as possible as crews continue to repair a broken water line at the Cliffside Booster Station. And they may need to conserve water at least through Sunday morning.

The break occurred Thursday evening, affecting approximately 80 homes. Utility crews worked late into the evening to install a new, temporary valve to restore at least some water availability to the area.

According to Logan City Public Works Director Paul Lindhardt, “Although water is still safe and available to use, we ask that all non-essential water use in the Cliffside area be eliminated as much as possible to allow time for repairs to take affect and for concrete to cure.”

He says that conservation should include irrigation, laundry, dish washers and conserving water in all other ways possible.

“Please do not fill bathtubs, basins, or other storage containers in an effort to save water for future use,” Lindhardt cautions. “This will only deplete available resources quicker.”

Lindhardt expects the repairs to be completed and water ready to flow again by Sunday morning.

Logan City utility crews had a busy evening Thursday as they worked to restore power to neighborhoods on the eastern side of the city. Power was out in some neighborhoods for as long as 7 hours.
