FLINT, Mich. – A coalition of water warriors from all over Michigan took part in ‘Imagine a Day Without Water’ in Flint Wednesday.
Among the group was Miss Michigan Emily Sioma, who recently used her nationally televised time during the Miss America pageant to highlight Flint’s water crisis.
During the event activists proposed and demanded solutions from leaders to protect the Great Lakes and the human right to clean, safe and affordable water.
“Somebody has already decided who will drink, and who will not. and as Michiganders sitting at the feet of the Great Lakes, we have a stewardship and a responsibility to make sure that there is a human right to water and that all Michiganders can be assured that they can drink clean, safe and affordable water in Michigan,” said Monica Lewis-Patrick, president of We the People of Detroit.
The group also hosted a water delivery for Flint residents.
